Cody Karlin is a senior public relations student at the University of Oregon’s School of Journalism and Communication who will graduate in June of 2014 with a minor in business and backgrounds in French and mathematics.
As the Vice President of Operations of the Oregon Pit Crew, the student section for all Oregon sports, he grew the organization by creating an annual student basketball tournament, fostering a partnership local restaurant for special events, and overseeing the creation and development of Pit Crew’s media branch. Cody also worked as a social media strategist for Oregon’s athletic department which included creating content for the @QuackCave Twitter account.
As an active member of his university’s Greek community, Cody transformed his fraternity’s one-day philanthropy event into a multiday event complete with a letter writing campaign, sponsorships, and involvement from the greater Oregon community. His efforts were noticed by Alpha Epsilon Pi’s national headquarters and Cody was invited to represent his chapter as one of ten chapters nationwide invited to attend a philanthropy event planning conference. The most recent edition of this philanthropy event raised over $10,000 towards a national philanthropy project.
He also works as a campus representative for a startup smart phone app, where he creates and enacts plans to engage university students about the launch and development of the Hallspot app.
